Hello and welcome to the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop. It’s the first Saturday of the month, so this is a technique challenge blog hop. Today’s challenge is making a Floating Hexagon card or Bandstand Card.
I first saw this type of card made by Iced Images. Her cards are a little bit bigger, so I watched her video a couple of times to change the dimensions for my size card. After a few attempts, I finally got it and created my template (shown below).

The card base is Blueberry Bushel, featuring the beautiful Wildflower Birthday 12×12 Specialty Designer Series Paper.

For the cake, I used the dies from the Cake Celebrations Bundle. I die-cut the cake holder using Gold Foil. The cake itself was die-cut from Basic White cardstock and embossed with the So Swirly Embossing Folder. The “icing” was die-cut from Blueberry Bushel cardstock. For the flowers, I used a die from the Flowers of Beauty set and die-cut them from Peach Pie cardstock. To finish off the flowers, I added Iridescent Pearls Basic Jewels to the centers.
I placed the cake on a circular die-cut made from the Spotlight of Nature dies and popped it up using Stamping Dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Cake Fancy Photopolymer Stamp Set.

On the back of my card, I stamped the sentiment using Blueberry Bushel ink on Basic White cardstock and then adhered this panel to Pretty in Pink cardstock.

In about two weeks, I will attend Onstage Raleigh, NC (Stampin’ Up! ‘s annual event). So, I am making about eleven Floating Hexagon cards for an organized swap I signed up for. I do hope the recipients will like them. To continue along our blog hop, click on Next Blog to see what my friends have created for you today.
