Hello and welcome to my blog. For today’s blog post, I am hopping with some awesome demonstrators from the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop group. The blog hop challenge is a technique challenge – a gatefold card. I made a Book Binding Gatefold card.
There are different styles of gatefold cards. Such as your basic gatefold, pop-out gatefold, double accordion gatefold (I’m going to try that next), zig-zag gatefold, and offset gatefold, to name a few. I wanted to try a new style of gatefold card: Book Binding Gatefold. This style of card involves combining two fun folds into one card.
My card uses products from the Turtle-y Cute Suite Collection. When I first saw this suite, I wasn’t too thrilled about it. However, I then began to see samples made from this suite and gave it a chance. I chose the sheet of Designer Series Paper that features various scenes. The four scenes measure 4 x 6, which is perfect for a card.

The card base is Cherry Cobbler card stock. I fussy cut the cute turtle, beach ball, and seashell using my snips. I adhered two of the images to a circle that was die-cut using Stylish Shapes Dies, and one on the inside of the card. I cut down the beach scene Designer Series Paper to fit onto the “gates” of the card. The “Hey” sentiment is from the Charming Day Cling Stamp set

I stamped the outside and inside sentiments in Tuxedo Memento Ink. For the inside sentiment, I should have stamped the sentiment first, then adhered the Basic White card stock (smudged it just a little). Added a couple of Earth Tones Shimmer Gems (they are on the Last Chance list, so get them before they are sold out).

Card measurements:
Card base: 4-1/4 x 11 – score at 2 1/8, 3 3/8, and 8 7/8
Designer Series Paper: 4 x1 (1), 4 x 1 7/8 (2)
Insert: 4 x 4
I have created a template for this card and will put it in my Card Template binder. I write down the measurements on the back and make an extra card.

This is a great gatefold Linda – paper choice and all! I have yet to make this style of card. Guess I need to move that rock and get to creatin’!
Thank you, Libby. It’s a fun card to make.

Thank you, Mo.
I have never seen a fold like this….and I love what you did with it! Great card!
Thank you Pam.
And you didn’t want to buy that set… haha! I love everything about your card and that background is amazing!
As my kids used to say “don’t cloud the issue with facts”…the set just didn’t appeal to me at first.
Thank you, Mickey.
