Stand Alone Dies – Stamping with Friends Blog Hop

Hello, my friends and welcome to my blog. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Well, it’s the first Saturday of the month, so the Stamping with Friends is hopping again. Today’s theme is Stand Alone Dies.

Did you know there are several Stand Alone Dies (dies that don’t coordinate with any stamp set)?
Here’s a list from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog:

From the list, I choose to use the Basic Border and the Stylish Shapes Dies.

I preparing to be a vendor at a couple of events here in my area. So I am in the process of making items to sell and I saw these gift boxes (idea from Tami White) and thought I give them a try.

The first two boxes use the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper.
The base for the first one is Daffodil Delight. The Melon Mambo flower and leaves are die-cut from the designer series paper and adhered using Stampin’ Seal +. The words “Love You” are die-cut in Basic White and they are from the Love You More Dies Set. I used the curved basic border die.

The base for the second one is Gorgeous Grape. Used the Hues of Happiness designer series paper again (just love this paper). I used the pointed basic border die on this one.
The sentiment is from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set. I die-cut the label (from Stylish Shapes Die) twice – once in Basic White and in Fresh Fressia. I cut the Fresh Fressia label in half and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhered it to the back of the Basic White.

For my third box, I used the Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper. I think this one is my favorite.
The base for this one is Sweet Sorbet. And of course, the sentiment used is from the Cup of Tea stamp set.

With it being a tea design, I added some tea bags inside.

Here is how to achieve the layered look for the gift boxes:
Cut both the card stock and designer series paper at the same time. Make sure to make the edges meet.

Place the die and run it thru your die-cut machine.

Slightly bring the designer series paper up to give it a border.

Measurements / instructions
Base – 4 x 11 score at 2.5 and 4.5
Sides- 3 x3 score .5 inch on 3 sides
Handle – .5 x 6 score at .75 on each end
DSP:
Box top: 6 x 3.75
Sides: 2 3/8 x 1.75
Handle: .5 x 6
See the photos above on die-cutting both card stock and DSP.
After die-cutting, adhere the DSP to the base and use your bone folder to round the box top (curl). Also do this for the handle (between the score lines)
Adhere DSP to the sides and adhere to the base (I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue)

For all the boxes, I used brads to adhere the handles and velcro dots to close the boxes. Now a funny story about the velcro dots… I went to adhere the velcro dot to one of the boxes. I knew they were on my desk (had a roll). They weren’t there…I found them in my bedroom. One of my furbabies thought it was a fun toy to play with.
