Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop – Christmas in July

Hello and welcome to the Stamping INKspirations July Blog Hop. The theme for today’s blog hop is Christmas in July. If you are starting with me or coming from Jill’s blog, I know you will enjoy all the inspirations shared today. When I think of Christmas, I think of the Poinsettia flowers. So I decided to make a stand-alone flower pot using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and dies.

I can’t enjoy the beauty of the Poinsettia flowers in my house since I have furbabies…cats. And I know of some friends that are in the same situation. So wouldn’t it be wonderful to have poinsettias that won’t harm our furbabies?

I saw a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers for a flower pot pocket card. But I wanted mine to stand alone. Their tutorial started out using card stock that measures 9 x 3 1/2 scored at 2 and 5 1/2 inches.

My stand-alone flower pot card starts with card stock that measures 10 x 3 1/2 and is scored at 1, 5, 5 1/2, and 6 inches. This creates a “tent” style that helps the card stand alone.

For the flowers and flower pot – the petals are die-cut in Real Red and Basic White Card stock. The leaves are die-cut in Mossy Meadow Card Stock. What I like about the dies is that they give an embossed look.
The “flower pot” is made with Cajun Craze Card Stock which was embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder. To assemble the flower pot, I added a small piece of tear and tape on both sides. Prior to adhering the “flap” to the flower pot, I adhered the crinkled seam binding ribbon. Popped up the flap with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the insert piece, you will need two pieces. Cajun Craze Card Stock measuring 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches and Basic White measuring 2 1/3 x 4 1/4 inches. I adhered these two pieces together and once that was done, I was able to add the flowers. I then stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black on the Basic white card stock.

I added a flower to the flower pot. For the center of this flower, I used the retired Beaded Pearls. So sad that they retired.

Now, this is a flowerpot of Poinsettia that I know I can have in my home. How about you?
