Hello and welcome my stamping friends to my blog. I am hopping with my fellow Stamping with Friends Design Team today. We are a community of Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators who share a love for paper crafting from different parts of the world. It’s the first Saturday of the month and that means today’s blog hop is about a technique. Today’s technique is the Wiper Card Technique.
What is a Wiper Card? A wiper card is a pop-up style card with a focal point that pops up when both ends of the card are pulled – just like a windshield wiper.
I chose to use products that will be in the upcoming January – April 2024 Mini Catalog. The Bee My Valentine Bundle and Bee Mine Designer Series Paper. These products are part of the Bee Mine Suite which includes Sweet Sorbet Ribbon, Square Pillow Boxes, and Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers.
The card base is Lemon Lime Twist. Now I will be honest when this color came out as a 2017-2019 In-Color, I wasn’t that thrilled about it. And now that it’s back as part of the Brights collection, I guess I can give it a second chance…
Let’s start making our card:
1. Use two pieces of Lemon Lime Twist card stock. Once cut and scored, you will have two “Z” folds – the base “Z” fold will be to the right, and the bottom “Z” fold will be to the left.
2. Adhere the Designer Series Paper to the base and bridge.
3. Adhere Tear and Tape on the right side of the bridge and adhere to the base.
3. For the mechanism – (a)fold the bottom right corner up to the edge. (b)Line up the edge of the fold of the mechanism with the score line and the top of the bridge. (c)Add glue dots on the small triangle part. Then fold it down. (d)Adhere the window sheet with a glue dot.
4 . Adhere the bee to the window sheet. Apply tear and tape to the end of the bridge not going past the score line and adhere to the base.
To embellish, I added some of the adhesive-backed Hearts and Flowers and punched out some hearts in Sweet Sorbet card stock using the punch.
I do hope I have inspired you to make a Wiper Card. To see the other inspirations using the Wiper Card Technique, click on Next blog.
